Topic : WITH HIM
Text: Mark 3:14.
14: And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach.
Many Christians have not realized the purpose of their call, call from darkness to light, call from the world to the Lord. It is not enough to just confess Jesus as Lord and personal Savior. This is the point many Christians stay. It is dangerous to stay at this level.
Jesus pattern of living is an example for us to follow, when he called the twelve, he simply wanted them to be with him. What does mean to BE WITH HIM? That’s my focus here.
Their primary purpose is not to go on errand or preach the gospel, the primary purpose is to spend time with him, they needed to learn his ways and his acts, he needed to impact his lifestyle unto them. Confessing him as Lord is just a way of enrolling and gaining access to him.
I hear many preachers say just aspect him as Lord and personal Savior that’s all, that’s not correct. That’s merely enrolling yourself to the school of learning his lifestyle.
Being with him is like an apprentice stay with his boss to learn. Jesus is calling us to be with him, fellowshipping, studying his ways, his acts and his word. This is process that will makes us disciples.
The way Jesus was moving about preaching the gospel shows it is a matter of urgency, but he wouldn’t send them to preach without them learning from him, this is because they wouldn’t represent him well.
Despite the fact that Peter stayed with him to learn his way for years, yet when they came for Jesus he cut off one of the ears of one of them before Christ rebuked him, that is to tell that Peter was not still a graduate of his school, when he became graduate eventually, he accepted to be killed for the gospel’s sake.
God is calling us to be with him, through worship, prayer and studying his word. God bless you.
