Text: Ecclesiastes 9:11
11: I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time. Amplified.
Predictions, prophecies, expectations always precede every new year, but obviously not all predictions, prophecies and expectations come to past, in fact, each year births surprises. Many a time we don’t even know who will cross to the other side before the year ends.
Only God could tell what and what will happen in the coming year. Every year comes with its own uniqueness, no seer as ever predicted accurately all events that occur in any year.
Some people talk about plans, discipline, diligence, developing capacity, getting updated in order to get the best of each year, of course they are correct, but all those qualities and virtues are just addendum, they are just supplement. Let me prove that to you: one can be diligent doing the wrong thing, or building capacity for a wrong venture.
While we do all the aforementioned we must be in acquittance with the one who controls time. Look at the later part of our passage.. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time. Amplified.
Your relationship with the author of time and life guarantees your prosperity in any year.
Psalms 34:5 is explicit about this, look at it here; Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Our dependence on God, looking up to him, seeking his face, waiting upon him will bring about a radiant life in the coming year.
As we wait upon him to know his mind, his plans, his will, his counsel, his programs for our lives our lives will definitely be radiant. The human eyes can’t see correctly, God sees the future from now, it’s important we allow him to guide us.
We can never miss our steps as we wait upon him, keeping fellowship with him. Staying in his presence is the key to unraveling the year. There are mysteries about the year to be unravelled, but we won’t except we stay in his presence spending time with him, fellowshipping, studying his word, praying. Regular Quiet time then becomes absolutely important if we must get the best of the year. God bless you.
