DAY 20: HOPE FOR HOPELESS SITUATIONS
Text: Hebrews 11:11,12.
11: Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12: Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
Abraham was at age that it could have been said of him that he died at good old age, that’s the reason the bible refered to him as good as dead. Though he had Ishmael, he would have died unfulfilled because the promise was not for Ishmael but Israel.
The fulfilment of the promise lingered till his old age, at a time that could be considered good enough for his funeral, it became the time of his breaking forth and fulfilment of God’s promises for his life. Nature seems to be telling on him and Sarah when he had divine visitation. But the one who regulates nature made borns to grow in the womb of a barren woman at an extremely old age which is totally against nature.
The interesting thing is that God made reference to Abraham, testifying to his faith, infact , linked the blessings he promised through Abraham to Jesus our saviour. God didn’t override what he said about Abraham even in the new testament, rather links everyone who believes in Christ to the blessings he gave in Abraham.
Abraham then remains relevant in the program of God, the relevance came to effect when he ought to be forgotten.
The God of Abraham specializes in giving hope to hopeless situations just as he did for Abraham. Abraham’s faith kept waxing strong when his body was growing weak, his strong faith in the weakened body have strength to make the weakened body and expired womb of Sarah give birth to the promise child. This is an example of what God can do to anyone whose faith waxes strong in the midst of hopelessness.
PRAYER.
* Lord, help my faith to wax strong.
* Do what you alone can do in my life.
* Every good thing that is dead in my life resurrect.
* I take a deliver of my long expected miracle in Jesus name.
* Mention to God that area you need a miracle.
