Topic: OBTAINING MERCY
Text: Hebrews 4:14-16
14: Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Let’s quickly take two dictionary meanings of mercy:
* A disposition of kindness and forgiveness.
* Alleviation of distress.
Obtaining mercy is obtaining kindness from God, it is seeking God’s compassion. His mercies alleviate distress, pains, struggles, troubles.
Verse 14 explains that he can feel what we feel, because he was made to pass through what we are passing through.
Coming to him with boldness, assurance that he will show us mercy is the first step in obtaining the mercy. When we approach him in prayer he gives us mercy and we find grace for help in times of need.
Today is day 3 of 21 DAYS OF SPECTACULAR ACTS it is dedicated to obtaining his mercy.
PRAYER.
* Lord, show me mercy.
* Let mercy prevail over judgement iny life.
* Let your mercy produce miracles in my life.
* Write off my unpleasant past by your mercy.
* Where my strength has failed let your mercy speak.
* Meet me at the point of my need in Jesus name.
