Topic: TENACITY
Text : 2 Samuel 23; 8-20
AMP:Next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines assembled there for battle, and the men of Israel had departed.
AMP:[Eleazar] arose and struck down the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword. The Lord wrought a great deliverance and victory that day; the men returned after him only to take the spoil.
Tenacity is defined as persistent determination, a lasting determination, a never given up attitude, refusal to quit no matter what happens. From our text this morning a good example is Eleazer son of Dodo ‘…. his hand was weary and clung to the sword…’ he was at a battle front and refuse to give up even when fellow men retreated, it was a point of life and death, he fought to a point he couldn’t remove his hand from the sword anymore, ‘..his hand clung to the sword..’ You need to understand that this world is a battle place we are at one time or the other confronted with challenges, problems etc, everyone who desires victory must be tenacious, refusing to quit. Many have given up on victory, success, breakthrough etc, Eleazer in our text refuse to give up and the Lord gave him great victory.
EXAMINATION OF ELEAZER
* He stood his ground; his feet were firm, he refuse to flee, likewise everyone who desires victory through God must stand on the solid rock which is Jesus christ.
* His hand clung to his sword: our sword is the word of God, Eph. 6;17 whoever desires victory, success, deliverance and breakthrough must cling to the word of God, just as Eleazer couldn’t remove his hand from the sword likewise he or she must never give up on God’s word. Persistently believe God that He can’t let you down, don’t give up on your good dreams, aspirations, visions, because if you’re not weary in your heart soonest great shall be your testimony.
* The men of lsreal were gone away: Eleazer was not discouraged by the actions of his fellow soldiers, many lost victory because they are conscious of people’s actions, they gave up because others gave up, that’s absolutely wrong, never allow people actions to determine yours.
* The Lord wrought great victory and deliverance through him: for everyone who holds on tenaciously, victory is not an option but a mandate, l can confidently tell you beloved that as you hold to God tenaciously, victory, success, prosperity, healing, anyone you desire will be yours.
This week is going to be a great one for you, as you go out this week expect great things. It is well with you.
