Topic: ‘ FOLLOW ME ‘. Part 4.
Text: Matthew 9:9.
9: As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, Be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me]. And he rose and followed Him. Amplified.
Jesus loved Matthew and wanted to give him a brand new life, I am sure there were other tax collectors where he called Matthew, he left them and chose Mathew.
I could imagine Jesus saying, ‘ if this man can obey me, I will make the best out of him, let me make attempt probably he will answer ‘, and fortunately for Mathew he made the right decision.
Matthew was among those that enjoyed Jesus, he saw him, lived with him, ate with him, walked with him and preached the gospel with him. Matthew might not be vocal in the disciples’ meeting and outing with Jesus, but he was taking notes of the events, life and teachings of Jesus, the fact that he has the longest epistle about the life and ministry of Jesus buttresses my point here.
Hear what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 13:16,17, Mathew was there in fact, he recorded it: But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Matthew would have ended up terribly as an extortionist if he had not obeyed Jesus but his obedience to divine instruction made him to get the best in life. Everyone who follows Jesus and obey divine instructions is on his or her way to fulfilling destiny.
Christ is committed to making us get the best of our lives, as we follow him and obey divine leading we are heading for the best.
Allow God to give you directions in your life, he has great plans for you and he is committed to ensuring you get the best in life.
As we wait upon him today, ask him to lead you in the way you should go. God bless you.
