Topic: REVELATIONS FROM PSALMS 1
Text: Psalms 1:1
1: Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. Amplified.
There are 150 Psalms in the bible, as common with other books of the bible, I expected that the book of Psalms will begin with a form of introduction about the book or the author, rather it began in a unique way.
The Psalmist began the book of Psalms as if he must first of all deliver an urgent message. I expected a form of appreciation to God, something like ‘ thanks to the Lord ‘, ‘ Give the Lord glory ‘, if the Psalmist who was known for praises, worship and adoration to God didn’t begin with adoration then what he began with is of uttermost importance.
He is started with ‘ blessed is the man ‘, I was expecting ‘ blessed be the name of the Lord ‘, my conclusion is this: the Psalmist speaking by the Spirit of the Lord stressed the secret of a man’s blessing.
Psalms 1 is the answer to the request of many people; seeking way to prosper. How to be blessed or ways to be blessed? Amplified version helps us with detailed information; Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly… The Psalmist by the Spirit of God began to list what can make a man to be blessed.
Number one on the list is ‘ not walking or living by the counsel of the ungodly. What does this mean? For you to take counsel from someone there must be a level of relationship, the first caution is to be careful with relationships that produce ungodly counsels.
Following ungodly counsels is an antidote to blessings, if you are going to live a blessed life you must flee ungodly counsels. God is against ungodliness, unrighteousness, unfaithfulness, God’s blessings do not come through ungodly manner. I will continue in part 2. God bless you.

* Help me Lord not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly.
