Topic: REVELATIONS FROM PSALMS 1…part 4.
Text: Psalms 1:22: But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. Amplified.
The Psalmist began the book of Psalms with specific instructions to humanity. What was suppose to be praise and adoration to divinity was an instruction to humanity.
The message must have been a burden on the heart of the Psalmist. Verse 1 of Psalms chapter 1 contains the don’t of a blessed man while verse 2 discusses the dos. Verse 2 talks about meditation on the word of God,
HOW DOES MEDITATION ON GOD’S WORD BRINGS BLESSINGS?
Every decision of a man is a product of his meditation, every action is propelled by decision, and every outcome is a function of your action. This is the process; meditation determines decision, decision propels action, and action determines result.
You are a product of your thoughts, and your thought is an atom of your meditation. Your meditation is the environment of your thought, if that environment is polluted, it is impossible for you to think right.
Let’s take two dictionary meanings of the word ‘ meditate ‘.
1, Think about a subject matter over a period of time.
2: Think intently at length as for spiritual purposes.
Take note of the phrase ‘ habitually meditates ‘, in our text it simply means making meditation on God’s word an habit. The subject matter of your meditation influences your decision, when you meditates on the word of God you can’t think amiss, the word of God helps us to think right.
Meditating on God’s word refines your thoughts. The Spirit of God goes with the word of God, as we meditates on his word his Spirit takes over our meditations, at that point we are led by his Spirit to take right decision.
In summary, right meditation will help you gets your decision right always, and right meditation begins as we ponder on God’s word because in that process God’s Spirit is involved.
Right decisions then lead to success and prosperity. The blessings the Psalmist talked about then becomes reality in our lives. God bless you.
